Kaye woke up last night worrying that our mover contact, the one who couldn't manage to get boxes and packing paper delivered in a timely fashion, had somehow managed not to schedule the move for Monday as discussed. (Who needs sleep anyhow?) Kaye called early this morning and found that we are indeed on the schedule and that the movers will arrive about 8am. We wonder how long it will take to empty the house?
One computer is packed now, but we will try to leave this computer on, i.e., unpacked, until Monday evening, making it one of the last things into the van, so we can write a bit about the movers. We hear that the equipment for our internet connection has arrived in Condadeuil, so it's possible we can arrange for it to work when we are on this short visit.
The mezzanine ceiling and other out-of-reach bits have been painted, but the floor hasn't been refinished yet. The small bedroom (office-to-be) should be done when we arrive, but the larger surface and the stairs will wait until we leave, and then we hope they are done by our return. This probably means that we'll be enjoying several days of odor on two separate occasions.
Removing the bees from the bedroom windows seems to have left quite a bit of damage, wax stains and we don't know what else. The newly applied and painted wallpaper seems to have suffered especially. Apparently quite a bit of repainting is needed. On the other hand, the floor near the windows has a nice beeswax coating now.
And now we have hornets at the peak of the house, over the terrace door. We seem to remember that we had these last year also. Hornets are not a protected species, so the bee man advised spraying with poison. Yuck. But since Ed is very allergic to these things, we need to get rid of them.
While we're there, our insurance agent will come to look at the water damage. We hope that the insurance will pay for quite a lot of the repair and perhaps even replacing the fioul heater, which hasn't worked well since it was drenched.
Tomorrow we'll pick up the van and a small borrowed refrigerator, make one last trip to the dump for recycling, and then get back to packing.
