Boxes, boxes, everywhere

Piles of boxes are growing on every floor, so we seem to be making progress. Now we're down to odds and ends that are difficult to pack up. And clothes. And organizing what we need and what we can do without for the next two months. Still lots to do in the next days, but we think we might make it.

Using up the food in the freezer and the fridge has been a major challenge. This needs to be done by Sunday, so we can start defrosting it for the move. We were hoping our old refrigerator would last till now so we could abandon it here (like the stove and dishwasher), but it died one very hot Monday morning, and we ended up with a new one which will go with us in the van. Meanwhile, we've arrange (through our local Freecycle) to borrow a small fridge for the next two weeks.

Kaye had a final dentist appointment today, with no problems -- hooray! Ed had his last check-up a few weeks ago and had two more appointments to fill little cavities. Now we get to look for a French dentist.

Today we cancelled the gas, water, and electricity with no problem, a snap. On the other hand, the phone seems to be a major project, requiring some kind of certification from the city hall. We hope the guy on the phone just didn't know what he was talking about and have mailed a letter asking for the phone to be stopped.
