We went off to Prague to meet up with our friends Sam and Pat who were at the end of a bike trip along the Danube. That trip ended in Vienna and then the group moved on to Prague for more sightseeing. Since S&P couldn't come to see us and we'd never been to Prague, we drove there to meet them. Prague is a lovely city, but was very hot and crowded, and we thoroughly enjoyed our air conditioned room. (If you're interested, pictures are available here.) On the way back we visited friends from The Hague at their house in the Jura. We lunched overlooking Geneva and its lake with glimpses of Mont Blanc when the clouds permitted, and had an excellent dinner on a smaller, local lake.
Otherwise, there's not been much happening. Julien, the repair guy, came by to look at the oven that's broken again. He'll be back again when the part has arrived.
The saga of Ed's Carte Vitale continues. We were hoping to find his card waiting when we returned. It wasn't, but a few days later there appeared a letter saying that the name on his passport didn't match the name they had recorded and would we please send identification with the correct name. Kaye phoned the English-speaking hotline again and Françoise (we're getting to be good friends) said we should send a letter (en français) to our local CPAM office to tell them there is an error in our file. After a couple of weeks we should call back and she'll verify that the correction has been made and request yet another Carte Vitale application to be sent to us.
