Not much going on

A quiet time of late. We went to a nearby vide grenier (flea market) on the weekend, but the sky opened, so it all entered early. Ed did manage to buy two old drill bits.

Monday evening we went to another quiz with friends and managed, again, to come in second to last. Well, it was fun, and the meal was nice. The hosts are dog people and Pogo eats better there than he eats at home!

Lots of little work around the house is getting done. There are screens on the bathroom and kitchen windows now. The one in the bathroom, especially, confuses Sophie, who's quite used to going in and out that window. Ed has finished around both the new bedroom windows, so this room looks quite nice now. The bathroom window still misses a bit of finish beneath the window, work that requires some searching for the proper materials.

And there is now lighting over the peninsula in the kitchen. One of these lamps hung in our Amstelveen living room while we were selling it.

There's still no proper counter, of course, but one thing at a time. The switch under the glass-doored cabinet is temporary.

During lunch today, Kaye turned on the working oven to bake cookies (for a CookbooksEtc contest). Oh dear. Oven #2 is not working either. She called the repair people, who admitted they needed to check up why the part for the first oven hasn't appeared. Some menu readjustment is required for the next days. Barbecued enchiladas anyone?

The weather has been quite nice of late, warm but not too hot. Last weekend's rain was intense but very brief and we could use a bit more.
