Saturday we went to the bric-à-brac in Montemboeuf. It seemed much smaller than last year. There was a small demonstration of folk dancing. While we were waiting for our lunch, one of the dancers approached Ed to join in, but he turned her down.
We haven't been to many of these sales this year, and have a few items on our list. Maybe in August we'll do better.
On the Fourth, we'd been planning to go to an Open Day at the Phoenix Association, the rescue group where we got Pogo and Sophie. The night before, we decided we'd stay home and grill ourselves some hamburgers. But we didn't get up earlier enough to make it to the shop to get some meat, so we defrosted some merguez instead and had an international sort of meal grilled sausage and a couscous salad.
Monday evening we went to another quiz dinner, about 30 minutes north of here in Ambernac. This is the commune where we stayed when we first visited this area. We were the only team of two and the only non-Brits, but we managed to come in fourth of five teams. Not bad, we thought. Pogo enjoyed the night and was treated royally by the hosts, savoring a bowl of leftover chicken bits and rice for his dinner. (Much better than he gets at home!)
Further it's been fairly quiet here. We're just hanging around trying to keep cool.
