Walking the dog

Just back from Pogo's evening walk. Out the door and around to the square in front of the barn-that-should-be-ours, and what do we find? A hedgehog, who tucked in his front and back sides, being not very happy to see Pogo. We kept Pogo on a short lead and let him sniff. Then a neighbor's kitten appeared and he was much more interested in this. He got some No and Sit training while the kitty investigated the hedgehog too. Not very interesting. We went on our way. When we returned to the square, finishing one loop of our figure-8 walk, the hedgehog was not to be seen. We continued down the other end of the figure-8 and found a big hoppy toad in the road. Pogo gave it a sniff and walked on. On the last leg of our walk, close to our house, there was a small toad, who resented being shooed off the road.

More adventure than our usual evening walks, where the excitement is usually limited to seeing a bat or hearing an owl. (Pogo's ears flutter when he walks, just like a bat's wings.)
