Slow times

We're finally both feeling much better at last, if still a little low on energy. Ed's making some progress (re)finishing our stacks of IVAR shelving; this takes some planning ... finish that bit, set it up, move stuff from here to there to free up those shelves for refinishing, etc. Meanwhile Kaye is helping a friend with her website. This is taking lots of time, since she's learning DreamWeaver and CSS as she goes, but could be a useful skill in case we need to earn money at some point.

We've made one stop looking for wallpaper for the mezzanine. We found only on possibility, but don't really it that much. Next week we plan to visit the shop in Limoges where we got the paint; they had rows of wallpaper books. We will probably combine that errand with a movie, since there are several undubbed movies showing in Limoges that we'd like to see.

The weather has turned gorgeous, with clear skies and temperatures today getting into the double-digits celsius. Nature's clothes dryer is back in business, bulbs are coming up, birds are singing, all that kind of stuff.

Since there's not too much news, we'll bore you with a couple of nature photos. On one of the first sunny mornings, we spotted a lizard sunning itself in the kitchen porthole. (Look under the hook that closes the shutter. You can see the reflection of the oval window in the glass of the porch opposite, with its little shutter to the left.)

And we have masses of common cranes flying over, migrating northward, frequently seen day and and heard at night. They overwinter in northern Africa and southern Spain. At the end of December, we heard them one evening moving southwards. Less than two months later they're going back again. Not much of a vacation!

Tonight we're off to a "pub quiz." We'll see how that goes.

  1. So cool that you were able to get pics of the cranes. (And look at that beautiful blue sky!) It was spooky hearing them at night.

    Miss you guys!
