Pub quiz and wallpaper

Hey, we did okay at the pub quiz. There were eight tables of six people participting, with four rounds of 10 questions, plus a photo round while we ate our dinner. For each round, the questions were announced and your team negotiated and recorded their answers. Then you traded with another table for "grading" and handed them in for scoring. After the penultimate round, we were tied for first place, but did dismally on the last round and came in second at the end. Not too bad though. Our group decided to donate our winnings (all €20 of it) to the local SPA (animal protection society, like the SPCA or RSPCA). Who knew St. Benedict was the patron saint of Europe or that kiwis come from China?

The crescent moon and Venus were beautiful in the clear night sky as we arrived at the venue, a campground/gîte owned by a Dutch couple. She was the hostess and he was the cook. Whew, it's still much easier to speak Dutch than French. There was one fellow amurrican in the group, married Dutch, also with a campground/gîte, but living part-time in The Netherlands still.

The mail today brought some samples of wallpaper that Kaye had ordered, and this time the packet included the one she found most interesting for the mezzanine. Much to her surprise, Ed likes it also, and it a positive way, not in an oh-it-will-do sort of way. If you want, you can peek at the pattern and  color we like. (The red matches the red on the mezzanine.) The problem is that it's a bit pricey. Even though we'll only do two walls, with our high ceilings and a 60cm repeat, it will take quite a number of rolls. Maybe a splurge or maybe we continue looking.
