Yesterday it was pouring buckets. We went off to the bank to get our new bank cards, which look suspiciously like Mastercards, with logo and all, but no credit limit. They have pin codes that you can't change -- yet another code to remember.
Meanwhile, Sally was painting and Dick was working on the gutters and Tricia was gardening here and next door. When we got back, Kaye made a pot of soup and we all sat down to eat in the warm, dry kitchen.
Ed replaced the broken toilet with the new one Sally brought. When she went to their supplier, they said they were aware there had been problems and she got a new one with no argument. The new one is actually nicer than the old one and seems to work better. It's very nice not to need to fill a bucket to flush.
Today we did a bit of shopping, getting started for Thanksgiving. We found some nice-looking sweet potatoes, but no cranberries. The green beans looked pretty puny, so we won't have pickled green beans; Ed doesn't care for them anyway, so it should be no problem. Ed has volunteered to make a proper pumpkin pie if Kaye prepares the pie crust. This might be interesting. We have only one small oven, so doing turkey, dressing, and our sweet potato casserole will be a challenge. No home-made rolls this year, it will have to be French bread instead. (Aw, shucks!)
