Another wrinkle

We're still feeling a bit under the weather, but a bit more rested after a good night's sleep last night. We had a busy morning, with lots of stops for various errands, and then a quiet afternoon. A friend visited, so we had a nice chat and she took away some of our plants. We won't have much space to take plants with us, so Kaye has taken cuttings of our favorites and we'll plant them up in the first week we're there. It's very sad to be abandoning plants.

This afternoon, we heard from our real estate agent that our buyer has a bit of a delay getting the loan arranged (apparently a problem with her divorce), so we may  not be closing on Monday as expected, but it should be in the coming week. The buyer must pay the "legal interest rate" (reportedly around 6%) for each day of delay. We have another, stronger, option where we can force her to settle within 8 days or pay a 10% fine, but we'd prefer not to do this. After all, we were about 3 months late getting the purchase of our Condadeuil house settled! We have already sent a proxy for the closing, so this is not really a problem for us. It's only a bit of a delay until we get our money.

This evening we skipped a bit of shopping and visiting that had been planned, but had another dinner with friends. We are really starting to realize how much we will miss all our friends here. We don't see them often enough as it is, but now it will be even longer. It was some comfort knowing that people you like are close at hand, even it you've not been in frequent contact.

Tomorrow we have a busy morning. Ed has a dentist appointment; Kaye will see her KNO/ENT doctor to get records to take away. We have to return our borrowed refrigerator and pick up our records from our house doctor. And get the car largely packed. Our neighbors have asked us to dinner, and some Freecycle folks will come by to pick up Ed's town bike and some shelving that we can't manage to take with us. We still plan to leave on Saturday morning, dropping our mattress at the dump and the last key at the real estate agent.

Sometime tomorrow we'll pack up this computer, so we won't be blogging again until we're in France!
