Where is this place?

Here's a link to a Michelin map. You can zoom this in or out to see the detail or the context.

Google's maps don't show much details for our area, but the French version, Geoportail, is pretty good.

Here's how to find our house yourself:
  • Go to www.geoportail.fr.
  • Click on Europe (France Continentale) in the map. Probably a little window will appear on top of the map. Click Fermer to make it go away.
  • In Aller à , enter our commune ... Mazerolles ... and click J'y vais.
  • Choose the Mazerolles in 16 - Charente.
  • In upper left quadrant of the map, you'll see a sort of pitchfork configuration from the main road. Grab (i.e., right-click and hold) the middle prong and pull it down to the lower right of the map frame. You may need to do this another time or two, until you see a sort or wobbly C-shaped road on the left, bottom, of the main road. This is Condadeuil.
  • Follow the first road to the left that you saw earlier (with a squiggle in the middle), and turn right towards the village. It reaches a kind of T crossing. Turn left there.
  • See the very white square just below the end of this short bit? That's the metal roof of our neighbor's barn. Pick up the map and move that to the center (click and hold just NW of the white square and move to the center).
  • In the blue panel at the right, move the yellow slider downwards to zoom in closer. Center the map again zoom in closer.
  • Just opposite the white-roofed barn (to NE) is our neighbor's house. Across the little way from them in the big barn we'd like to buy (but probably won't be able to). Attached to the back of that is the body of our house (the old stable) and the old farmhouse with kitchen and bedroom.
  • If you scootch the picture down a bit, you'll see the dirt road below us. You can see the outline of our South Forty. The white bit you see in the trees is our garden shed. The property line goes up to right edge of house part from there, although it's not very visible here. The sand bit (?) along the way is not ours.
