Fall has arrived

Last Monday with went we a group of 7 to our monthly quiz; since this quiz likes to keep the groups small, we split into two teams of 4 and 3. And our two teams came in first and second. Congrats to us all!

Last weekend was the annual bread fair at Le Cruseau in Lésignac. The bakers were very crowded when we were there, so we didn't hang around too much. We did bring home a nice loaf of bread and a brioche. There was an exhibit of old cars, and beyond that, not a tractor pull, but a cultivating contest. They were two big plots laid out with maybe 30 participants in total. Some old guys, some young guys, kids in two. Some very old machines and some newer. And guys with clipboards walking around judging. We're not sure of the exact criteria, time didn't seem to be a factor. Maybe how straight and parallel the furrows are. Made a little video of the action, but can't upload it. (This seems to be a Known Problem at Blogger. There is a workaround by posting at YouTube, but I don't want to do that. Blogger seems to be having lots of problems right now, and none of them seem to be getting fixed. Hmmm...)

We have new neighbors now. The daughter of the barn owning neighbor has moved in with her two kids. We've yet to meet them. Looks like we'll have to get some kind of a curtain on our north bedroom window.

The equinox has passed and autumn has definitely appeared. Sunny, cool daytime temps and into the single digits (C) at night. Lekker slapen! Owls are hooty-hooting.

Driving home from a movie, we had to stop when we met a boar on the road. It crossed to one side, but was clearly indecisive about what to do next. Finally it decided to cross back over and disappeared through the fence. We didn't see any babies or friends nearby. Didn't feel the need to get out and pet it!

  1. Ahhhh...... the good life. Congrats on the quiz victory, & hope you come to like your next-door neighbors. And above all, Happy Anniversary! Am I right that it was Oct. 15th & 30 years? As always, wish we were there!
