Gloomy weather

We're getting better, but it's slow. And the weather for the last week has been gray and rainy, which hasn't helped. Our contributions to GLOBE at Night this year have been pretty limited, since we didn't see the sky for days and days. Result: we haven't been doing much at all.

Ed finished re-assembling our Japanese tea cabinet, the one that's sat in its box all the time we were in the Netherlands. It's quite nice to see it again. We've hung the same pictures over it that were hanging over it in Houston. But how did it work? The pictures are wider than the cabinet and look too "heavy." We're puzzled and will try to find an old photo to see what was different. But it is nice to see the little cabinet back together after so many years.

On the weekend we went with neighbors to see a film in Angoulême. We stopped first at the Victor Hugo market, a great covered outdoor market there with mostly food, some plants and other household items.

Still no action on Ed's Carte Vitale. Are we surprised? Yesterday after waiting on the phone for over ten minutes (without the Dutch er zijn vier wachtende voor uw), Kaye discovered on their website a place to send a query. With the help of Google translate she wrote a message and was promised an answer within two working days. We'll see.

The weather looks better for the next week, light freezes at night, but at least there's sun in the daytime. We're thinking about getting started with our potager, vegetable garden.
