Winter wonderland

The snow has indeed finally gone, but it was beautiful while it was here. This was the view one morning, looking to the west from the south window in our bedroom:

And this is looking out the north window. Notice the icicles at each groove in the tiles. (Below you can see the opening for the glass brick window in the living room.)

We were two days without mail delivery, the garbage wasn't picked up until this week, and Ed's choir practice on Thursday was cancelled. We were pretty much unable to leave the village until Sunday morning, when we went out for some grocery shopping. Although the roads were starting to melt by then, they were still pretty treacherous, so it was a nerve-racking drive. The produce section at the grocery store was empty, no lettuces or other salad makings, no potatoes or other root vegetables. They hadn't had any deliveries either.

When we awoke Monday morning, there was no snow to be seen. A startling change. In fact some bits (still!) remain in shadowed areas on the roadsides, but mostly it's completely gone. For several days we had really warm temperatures with highs around 15C. From too cold to too warm. Temps are back to normal now, with more snow is predicted for next week.

Further, not much has been happening. We've been staying home and puttering. Ed spent much time working on a friend's computer that was full of viruses and settings that made it run badly and crash frequently. He are a Windows expert now.
