The geese are getting fat

Yes, we finally got the tree and other decorations out and scattered around, and here we are to prove it:

Since the living/dining room is still serving as a construction depot (waiting for the last set of cabinets to be installed in the kitchen), we had our tree upstairs again this year. It does seem a bit odd, but the wood floor upstairs is definitely warmer than the tiles downstairs.

We indeed had a white christmas, with sunny skies and temps that didn't go above 0C, so that the snow stayed around. Not as deep as the last snows, but snow nevertheless. We were so blasé we forgot to take a picture. On Tuesday it turned grey and warmed up and the snow rapidly disappeared.

The regulator did not do the trick for the ovens (are we surprised?), so both thermostats will be replaced on Friday if the parts arrive in time. If these thermostats don't last, we're assured we'll get a new machine.

Still no action on Ed's Carte Vitale. Kaye called again today to find that the last person she talked with is on vacation. Today's helper will call the CPAM office to find out the status and call us back tomorrow. Holding our breath — not.

Yesterday we went to a movie (Mike Leigh's Another Year) in Angoulême and did a bit of shopping and made an appointment for some car body repair. (Kaye backed into a pump and made a dent!) Ed's been busy chopping and stacking wood. Kaye's been busy in the kitchen. And that's about all that's happening around here.
