Ed's thumb is better now so work on the kitchen is progressing. He's busy installing insulation behind new wallboard and improving the electric supply on that wall. We've ordered the sink and its counter now, so need to have this wall finished and the new floor installed before the end of July.
Last Saturday we went to a loto evening in a nearby commune. Loto is a kind of bingo, each card has three rows of nine squares (columns for 1s, 10s, 20s, etc.), but only five squares on each row has a number. On each round, there is a prize for the first person to complete one row, then two rows, then a full card. Kaye tied for the first row on one round, but lost on the draw and got a bottle of wine as a consolation prize. There are twelve rounds, plus a break for a tombola (a drawing for prizes), a round with smaller cards for the children, and a strange round where you turn each card over if it has the number called. We bought 15 lots for the tombola and won nothing, but one of our group won a mystery plant and another won a digital camera on the no-number round. It's all good fun with a lot of laughs (and very good for our numbers in French), but the evening wasn't over till well after 1am, well past our bedtimes!
Spring is really trying to spring now. We had a lovely sunny spell that set the cuckoos to calling. Now it's gone back to rainy, although thus far it hasn't been as bad as forecast. One morning Kaye looked out the bedroom window and saw a deer munching one of our camellias. Sorry, the deer was away before we could find a camera, but this is one of the attractive camellias.
