Fruits de Mer

Yesterday afternoon Ed planted a hedge of 24 bird-friendly shrubs at the bottom of the South Forty. Whew! Meanwhile, Kaye put three blueberries into pots with special (ericaceous) soil. We watered them all well, just to insure that gentle rain would fall all day today.

Today we enjoyed the annual Repas des Fruits de Mer in a neighboring commune. (We enjoyed the same event last year.) As the main course, we were served enormous (styrofoam) platters, some in the shape of a boat, heaped with oysters, crab, three sizes of shrimp, mussels, cockles, and whelks nestling on a bed of seaweed. (If you're interested, there are a couple more pictures to be seen at Facebook. When there, you can click a photo to enlarge it.)

Now we're coming out of a period of lovely weather, unseasonably warm. It's drippy now and we may have some light freezes in the next night, so we'll need to protect our the potted blueberries.
