Poisson d'Avril

Yes, it's April Fool's Day, Poisson d'Avril in France. Nothing much exciting happened around here, just silly stuff in the news and on Facebook.

After a long period of cool, gray, and drippy weather, we're having a few sunny, warm days right now, to the delight of the dandelions. Grass is growing too and it's already needing its second mowing in the yard. Ed has a new toy to help with mowing the South Forty this year. Eventually we'll build probably build a lean-to on the side of the garden shed so it can have a bit of shelter. Now it's just sitting on the terrace.

Ed took advantage of the sunny weather to work on putting gutters on the garden shed. Soon we'll get another water butt to collect water from that roof. This will bring water closer to the potager in the South Forty. ("Potager" is the French word for a kitchen garden, but also an English word with the same meaning.)

We're ordered lots of seeds and some plants so we can really get started with our potager this year. We'll see how it goes. Meanwhile we set out a bunch of leaf lettuce plants in the bed near the house where the tomatoes abounded last summer. They were very happy with the rain, we must say.

Further, it's been pretty quiet around here. We haven't been out much, except for the regular sort of stuff, grocery shopping, choir practice, line dancing, hair cuts, etc.
