We're both on the upward swing with our colds at last and feeling more like doing things. After a bit of a gloomy weekend, the weather has turned fantastic and we've spent large parts of the last days working outside. All Kaye's gardening club pickings seem to be thriving except for the strawberries. Ed and his chainsaw attacked the long overgrown bay laurel (?) hedge that runs down the east side of the yard. We neglected to take any in-progress photos, but here's what it looks like trimmed and tidied up.
The hedge, which hadn't been seriously trimmed it a couple of years was the same height as the deciduous shrubs that are in the same row. Since we like the view beyond the hedge, we'll try to keep it about this height now. Here's the almost 2-meter-high pile of trimmings we'll be burning later (guarded by Pogo).
And here's Ed sharpening his chain saw after all that work.
It's no surprise that we haven't heard anything about Ed's carte vitale. We'll give them a few more weeks before we call again. Kaye's been having a bit of fun playing with her new stove, trying out the wok burner and other gadgets. Further not much has been happening.
Hi people! So nice to hear how you're doing over there and I LOVE your new stove. What brand is it? I had one that looked almost the same in Holland - please let me know. Can't wait to see it in person.
ReplyDeleteOur weather in Toronto is unbelievable right now - average temperature for this time of year is +4 and for the past few days it's been +18! Going back up there again today and, thankfully, I'm working from home - or should I say deck - all day so will be able to enjoy it.
Take care, and keep those journal entries coming!
