Home again, home again

There's not too much to report since we've been gone for most of the last two weeks. We had a nice trip to Amsterdam, did lots of shopping and saw lots of friends, although it's just not possible to see everyone you'd like to see. We had a really busy schedule and realized that we saw in a week the same number of folks we used to see over six months or more. Whew. On the way back we visited friends in the east of France. We had a very nice time everywhere, but it's really nice to be home again.

We're looking forward to getting a new kitty at the end of this week. First we have to get a new litter box and scratching pole, sort through all our old kitty things to see what's worth having around, and generally make the house cat-proof.

We brought back some more bits of Ivar from IKEA in Amsterdam and we've done some minor furniture rearranging to accommodate the new shelving. Ed hung the coat rack and his grandmother's mirror in the entry, and we'll be putting up more mirrors and pictures throughout the house this week, so it will start to look more like our space.

It seems like it didn't rain all the time we were gone so everything is looking really dry. The grass didn't grow much, but the weeds that try to pass themselves off as lawn did quite well. There's rain in the forecast for tomorrow, so we've got our fingers crossed.
