This morning Kaye was moving shelving around in the kitchen and managed to knock a big jar full of basmati rice to the floor -- a fiddly mess to clean up and more glass to recycle. This afternoon Ed managed to knock over a can of shelving varnish, all over the floor and splattered on the wall. An even bigger mess. Needless to say, the air in the house was rather blue today!
Saturday, we walked up to recycle a sack of glass, only to find that the recyle bin had gone missing. No sign and nothing in sight. On Sunday, Ed drove that direction when he went to the boulanger for bread and found the bin a little further on, around a bend. More uphill to walk to get there. More of a challenge! Maybe tomorrow.
Yesterday there was a bit of rain, not too much, no big storm or anything. Both of our water cisterns filled up! We still don't have adapters and hoses for them, and we hope they will handle the overflow without too much problem.
Ed's just about finished with the IVAR shelving, only a few bits remaining to be done. Now there are no more IVAR bits waiting to be refinished in the entry, so that's looking like a part of the house. The "pantry" shelving has found its place in the kitchen and the extra shelving in the dressing is in place. Kaye started filling all of this today, and the house is starting to look more like it will eventually. We're debating whether to put the wallpaper up next or to start the messy and smelly work of refinishing the floor.
Easter Sunday we're going up near St. Maixent in Vienne to attend two concerts, part of a Bach à Pâques Festival. (That's Bach at Easter, but it rhymes.) We'll spend two nights in the area and return on Tuesday morning. We're looking forward to a little break.
